Join us in this tour and discover the Greek cuisine and hospitality. Immerse into greek culture by enjoying a real traditional meal with a local family. Travel back to ancient Greece by visiting the archaeological sites Olympia the birthplace of the Olympic games and Epidaurus. Visit Nemea the most famous wine producing area of Greece and taste some of the best local wines. Visit an olive grove with 2000 perennial olive trees and enjoy an olive oil tasting workshop. Finally have the chance to taste fresh fish on a seaside village accompanied with a good wine.

ITINERARY

DAY1 Button Athens tour – Welcome dinner with local family

Explore the historical center of Athens, by walking into Monastiraki the most famous flea old market in Athens where you can find clothes, old vinyls and antiquities of all sorts. even some most rare and surprising objects you would ever expect to find anywhere. Walk through the labyrinth-like alleys of Plaka the oldest and probably the most characteristic neighborhood of modern Athens narrow streets with whitewashed houses just underneath Acropolis.
Later on it is time for your culinary tour to begin. We will visit a local family and taste an authentic homemade “dinner at home”. You will be introduced to Greek food with traditional handmade pie from the island of Kefalonia, a variety of greek dishes, salads and desert. You will also taste local organic wine while you enjoying your dinner. It is a great opportunity to feel the Greek hospitality and integrate with a local family and the greek culture. You will have a briefing from your guide about the next days program and later you will be transferred to your hotel.

DAY2 Button

Nemea wine tour and tasting

After breakfast we will depart for Nemea, the famous wine producing area of Greece. On the way, we will stop at the impressive Corinth Canal, which separates the Peloponnese from mainland Greece and connects the Gulf of Corinth with the Aegean Sea. We will also have the chance to visit the fortress of Acrocorinth located on the hill above Ancient Corinth, overlooking the ancient city.

Today we will visit two different wineries of the area. At the first winery, you will taste 3 to 5 of their best wines, from deep reds to refreshing whites , while you learn about the winery process and try a variety of cheeses from across Greece. We continue our journey to the second winery of Nemea. Here you will take a tour through the vineyards, you will learn about the famous local variety Agiorgitiko, and the winery process from harvesting the grapes to bottling. At the end you will enjoy a totally greek meal accompanied with the estate wines.

DAY3 ButtonVisit ancient Epidauros – Visit Nauplio.

After breakfast, an hour's drive from Nemea we arrive at the archaeological site of Epidaurus. We visit the ancient theater, probably the most beautiful and best preserved of its kind. Built in the 4th century, due to its excellent acoustics and condition, the ancient theater is still used today. Later, we move to the beautiful town of Nafplio, the first capital of modern Greece (1821) after the Greek revolution .The Old Town’s heart, with its maze of narrow streets, the stunning neoclassical buildings, provides an ideal opportunity to walk and explore it. Last but not least is the visit to the famous Venetian fortress of Palamidi, a true architectural masterpiece. Built during the Venetian occupation in 1687, and perched above Nafplio you can admire great view of the area.
We will end our day enjoying a dinner with tasteful traditional delicatessens .

DAY4 Button  Olive oil tour & tasting

Visit the castle of Androusa
Our tour starts at the magnificent 13th century castle of Androusa, located in the heart of Messinia, just 20 minutes drive from Kalamata and 10 minutes from Ancient Messene. At this idyllic landscape, viewing all the Messinian Valley with the 15 million olive trees we discover the history, the tradition of the area and also the mythical stories of the castle olive trees.

Olive grove tour
We will then visit a private olive grove with the 2.000 perennial olive trees. Prepare your Greek coffee inside the olive grove and admire the beautiful landscape. Inside the olivegrove there is also the vineyard with different grape varities, our garden with seasonal vegetables and a lot of seasonal fruits such as figs, mandarins, oranges, grapes, apples , pearls etc where you can taste what you like for free.

Olive mill visit and olive oil tasting
We walk only 200m, in the heart of Androusa Village and we visit a unique Olive Oil mill that is located there since 1904. The 5th generation owner will explain to us the procedure of the extraction, the standardization and storage of extra virgin olive oil.
An interactive olive oil tasting work shop, by certified olive oil taster is next, that focuses on olive oil categories, olive oil sensory tasting & food pairing at least in 3 different extra virgin olive oils. We taste also the famous kalamata olives and olive tapenade.

Lunch/Dinner
At the end of the day you will enjoy a dinner with traditional local goods, deserts and seasonal fruits.

DAY 5  Cheese tasting – Cooking class- transfer to Olympia

Visit a multi awarded Cheese Factory
Only 3km away is located one of the most awarded cheese factories of Peloponnesse. Learn about the local production, the quality and the varieties of the local cheese.Finally taste some of the most delicious local products such as sfela, mitzithra, feta, graviera.

Cooking class
Discover the Greek traditional Cuisine, inside a local Greek Taverna, next to the olive oil Mill. Georgia, a local housewife and owner of the taverna, has just picked from her farm fresh vegetables, fruits and eggs and we will cook together traditional Greek recipes. Spinach or Cheese pie, Greek Salad, Tzatziki, would be some of the local recipes that you will prepare!

Depends from the season you are visiting Greece, and if the time permits we can go to a nearby beach for a relaxing swim before we move to Olympia.

DAY 6  Visit ancient Olympia, lunch in a seaside village, return to Athens

After breakfast, we visit the archaeological site of Olympia. Located in western Peloponnese, ancient Olympia one of the most celebrated ancient Greek sanctuaries, became the most important religious and athletic centre in Greece. Olympia is the birthplace of the Olympic games which began on these very grounds.
On our way back to Athens, depending the season we will stop for a nice refreshing swim at Selianitika seaside village and enjoy fresh fish with some special, local delicatessen on a local tavern by the sea.

After the lunch we will return to Athens, (approx. 1.30-2 hours driving where our culinary tour ends. Those who have a flight they will be transferred to aiport.

DAY 7  Departure day
 
Our culinary tour ends today after the breakfast. It is up to you now whether you continue your journey in Greece or you take a flight back home.

Accomodation

During this journey we will stay in cozy family run hotels, ranked as 3 star. The accommodation will be based on double occupancy and if you are travelling by yourself, you will be paired up with another single client of the same sex.
