While you are on holiday take the opportunity to visit one of Athen's vineyards, in the district of Mesogeia. Let the aroma take you through memorable wine routes in one of the world’s oldest grapevine plantations and try old classic or new labels in the cellars of local wineries.

The district of Mesogeia is the oldest and largest wine producing region in Greece. With more than 26 winemakers, the area has been distributing wine throughout Greece for more than 3000 years.

According to Greek Mythology, Dionysus, the God of wine, while was on trip in Attica region decided that the area was suitable for growing his beloved grape. He entrusted the locals with the secrets of viticulture and the art of wine drinking.

We invite you to experience a magical trip to one of the most historic vineyards of the world.

Moreover in this trip we will visit the non touristic Ancient temple of Artemis, built in late 6th century BC, and visit the less known archaeological site of Vravrona, set in an idyllic landscape, surrounded by lush green fields, olive trees and vineyards. Last but not least, if the weather permits, we will have the chance to swim in a nearby beach. So, take your swimming suit and lets go!

Tour Itinerary

Meeting time is at 9.00 at the metro station Doukissis Plakentias. We will drive towards the East coast of Attica crossing Mesogeia region, an area full of vineyards and olive groves. First stop is the archaeological site of Vravrona, an area which was first inhabited around 3500 BC. We will  visit the temple of Artemis, the goddess of hunting and the wild nature.

Afterwards, we will continue our tour towards the sea. We will have 2 hours free time for relaxing and for swimming on a nearby beach under the mediterranean sun.

Our next stop is the famous vineyards of Mesogeia.  We will have a tour in a small but local winery, where you will have the opportunity to learn and taste some of the local varieties such as Savatianno and Roditis. You will learn about the process of making wine, how we set up a vineyard, and you will practice on some methods where the vine grower uses. We will walk through the vineyards and at the end of the day to take back home some great Greek wines, right from the producer.
